Volley is designed to be secure, but knowing what to watch out for gives you extra protection. Here are some quick tools and safety tips for any payment, anywhere.

      Check the account details
Volley verifies everyone's account details before they can share a payment request, so the name you see is their real account name. Always check it matches who you’re expecting to pay. If something looks off, don’t make the payment.

      Add a selfie
When you sign up, Volley asks you to take a selfie in the app. This helps friends recognise you and gives everyone confidence they’re paying the right person. Only people you share requests with can see your selfie, so have fun with it!

      Know when you’re paid
You'll get a Volley notification as soon as someone pays you. We’ll also tell you when you can expect the money to hit your account. No more relying on screenshots or wondering if you’ve been paid.

      Scan to pay in person
Volley's QR codes let you quickly pay someone in person without having to share or type any personal details. Not only this, but they stay fresh and expire once used, so you can’t accidentally make the same payment twice.

Never share your username or password
Unlike other services, Volley won’t ever need access your username or password to access your bank account. Only ever enter your login credentials on your bank’s website or app — and nowhere else.

      Beware of common scam techniques
Only scammers will try to pressure you to do something quickly. If in doubt, always ask to pay the next day. They also commonly try to impersonate people you know. If you’re unsure, confirm the request is real via a trusted channel.

      Double check links
Volley requests are designed to be shared where you already chat with friends — like Messenger, Instagram, or WhatsApp. Always check the link comes from app.volley.nz.
