Announcing our integration with ASB
Posted by James McCann, 17th Dec 2024
Today I’m really pleased to announce that Volley has reached a bilateral agreement with ASB for access to standardised Open Banking APIs.
Our integration will enable ASB customers to pay Volley payment requests, making it easier to pay your friends, donate to charity, or shop with businesses with secure bank transfer payments.
Volley is a new app that makes it easy to pay friends and share requests to be paid back for things like dinners, flat groceries, or accommodation for that weekend trip away. You can pay directly from your banking app in a few taps, so you don’t have to open a new account or top-up a wallet with money and your money stays safe and secure in your bank.
Bringing down the costs of accepting payments for businesses
Our merchant platform, Volley for Business, brings the same great payment experience to businesses and merchants, making it easy to accept “pay by bank” transfers via payment links, adding QR codes to invoices, or paying from a web or app checkout.
Our fees are a fraction of the cost of typical card acceptance rates and designed for simplicity and predictability.
Payments are typically settled within an hour and are made safer thanks to our use of secure APIs and multi-factor authentication provided by banking apps.
Secure payments via Open Banking
"We’re really happy to be working with ASB to help evolve the payments marketplace in New Zealand with secure API-driven payments" says Volley's founder and technical lead, James McCann.
"Open Banking lets us take you directly to the ASB app to review and confirm a payment. There’s no payees to manage or reference data to enter, it’s all applied automatically".
"We’re really excited to put this new technology into the hands of more Kiwis and businesses in 2025".
ASB's Tribe Lead for Everyday Money, Micheal Maclean, indicates that ASB is excited to be able to team up with Volley. "As a new financial technology company in New Zealand, their services are a great demonstration of the innovative opportunities that Open Banking can provide."
Keep an eye out for Volley appearing at businesses and charities as a payment option near you in 2025 and get in touch with us today to discuss how pay-by-bank can simplify and reduce your payment processing costs.
